Welcome to 2019!

Hello everyone,

so here we are for the start of a new year with painting and miniatures gathering and miniatures selling because you bought too much and think you won't be able to paint them all but in the same time you're thinking of new armies that could be cool to start ...

I'll never make it ...

Anyway, the good part is that I made good progress on a coupe of minis that i had for too long on my painting table.
The other good part is that I join the OWAC 2019. The OWAC is a challenge for oldhammer fans that asks you to paint 200 pts of units each month until june 2019. Each contestants got one month of break. There are no other rules but this is the occasion to start an army of mine that I completely neglected for several years, my undeads.

The OWAC Banner

The OWAC is organised by Rick who is a cool guy who 's doing this for the community a second time in 2019. I strongly invite you to visit the blog which gathers the posts of all the contestants.
If I remember correctly we're almost 40 to participate and it's always cool to see the photos and paintings of our fellow oldhammerers.

Here is the link: http://oldworldarmychallenge.blogspot.com/

For January, here is what I have:

Hunters
That's it I completely finish the unit of 10 bowmen for my Baron's army. The Robin hood guy was going to be the leader but the palladin is so more chunkier that he got the job. Plus he got the red flaming bow of fire! ... Surely a magic item...

Then we can hear some loud footsteps ! BOOM! BOOM !
A Hill Giant! And his pets ...

So here is a citadel hill giant that I paint in grey like my ogres. If I ever want to use them all as a V8 ogres army list, I plan to use him as a hunter with his two tigers.

Tomdidom didom ... having a walk...

That's it for the month, right now i'm working on a unit of 20 flagellants, 13/20 done for now. They might be finished before february but you never know.

Finally, don't hesitate to check my undeads on the owac blog, in the end of the challenge, I ll still have undeads to finish but that's an other story ...

Sigh ...

Wait I can't finish on a negative note, here is a message for all of us that still have a lots to paint to compete our projects.

For the baron!!! Part.2

Hello everyone,

here is my second post of 2018. Really few days passed since my last post. It seems i can improve my publications rate at some points.

This post will concern my border princes' army. This ragtag's group of human beings is lead by le Baron HacheduSoir. This strange and old noble rules his domain with strenght and fear, only his nightaxe is keeping him alive, leaching the life of his ennemies or sometimes leaching the life of his own folks.

I still didn't finish him, he got his undercoat but I didn't advance on him.
Here is what I did for now:

A captain and a Priest of Verena
The captain is an eternal Champion from the Elric's line. He looks good but he s a bit slim with his armor. I painted him a bear's claw like the one from the regiment of renown named Urslo's bearmen.
The warpriest was supposed to be a captain but he looked good with his bald head as a warpriest. I chose Verena which is the god of Justice.

Hunters
So here is Bertrand le Brigand and his crew! No, just kidding. This is a unit of 10 guys, just 5 of them got painted though. The Champion is obviously the Robin Hood guy. You can see Will Scarlett on the right. Each of them are classic citadel sculpts. They all look really good. The scout on the right got a native american look but fits really well with the others. Still need to finish the 5 left though.

Hellblaster GUN!!!
All human army must include one of these cannon. They bring lots of firepower. It's one of the last sculpt, still in metal though. The crew is a mix of the bretonnian crew and some foundry miniature guys. This make me three canons in my army but i added one great canon and an other hellblaster gun. This will be good enough to finish all the artillery of the Baron's army.

Elementals
Others classic citadel sculpts, the elementals. These guys seem to get directly out of the heroquest cards. My favorite is the earth one, i added to him a bit of grass on his shoulders like he erupted out of the earth. The air one arrived broken with a case of leadrot. It was super hard to fix him completly. I needed to drill deeply in it and added iron rod to make it solid again. Then a lots of greenstuff to hide all the holes in it. But in final i succided in making it looking decent. The painting on the three of them is really simple but I like it. The fire one is still missing, i'm still looking for it to complete the crew. The army includes like three or four wizards and i like the idea of them being abble to summon the elementals.

Then i completed two big units, militia and footknights!

The militia:
Here we are...

I already showed the front rank on the facebook page but here they are all complete.
Must of these guys come from foundry miniatures the rereleased mercenaries. They re superb sculpts full of caracters. Right now, they re no more available but the foundry crew informed me that they re going to package them in a different ways and review the moulds. So if you didn't have the change to buy them yet, just wait a bit they might reappear on their online shop anytime soon.

The frontrank consists of an empire champion, surely someone who ran away from his former army, a merchant who hired this ragtag crew to defend his vineyard. The hunchback named Luthor is really good amongst them, it s a cool sculpt from warhammer quest. Hard to find him though.

An other group with a falconner, some crossbowmen and a coupe of deserters from the Keltalas duchy. Their colours are black and yellow.
The story of my army inspired itself from Dune where the Baron's men are the Harkonnen and the Keltalas was an other domain led by a Duc. Sadly undead overwhelmed them and a lots of people from Keltalas ran away and found shelter in the Baronny. What became the Duc is still unknown ...

The ten last guys are all from Foundry, I mean, look at their sculpts! They re so cool. It was a joy to paint them all.
Merchant: "Protect my domains, protect my spice and grapes!"

Finally, my unit of Footknights!

Footknights:
We have to push the Pram a lot!!!

If you remember two years ago, i showed the start of this army and a little battle i made with friends. The knights were only undercoated... without love... they remained like this for a couple of years and then i gave them the attention they deserve!

Practically all of them came from Foundry miniatures (again) it s nice to have a line that allows you to buy some oldhammer miniatures not at a crazy price. I dont know if you guys check Ebay these last days but it s becoming crazy ... crazy like you can't afford oldhammer miniatures anymore! So thanks Foundry for releasing some oldhammer for us who dont have millions to spend for our miniatures' fix.

Here you can see a marauder fighter!

The second from the left is one of the footknight bretonnian that everybody wants! These footknights are like some of the most wanted miniatures in oldhammer. Them and you can count fimirs, genestealers hybrids and red period hobgoblins.

Brave brave brave! Brave Sir Robin!

The champion makes me think of Robin of Camelot. He s so fun. The guy on the right is a citadel fighter, i like his helmet.
Once again, the complete unit. They re leaving, this blog is not serious enough ...

That s it for this update of the blog with the advance of my border princes' army. I hope you enjoyed watching my painting and my miniature selection, it s always a pleasure to read your comments and encouragements, it helps me to keep painting and improving.

Until next time, I was you all the best. See you guys!!!

Is it 2018 yet? ... Oh boy!

Hello everyone!
That's it, i m back in my blog for the year 2018 but don't worry even if i didn't post I did some paintings.
So, here i am trying to catch up time, i did some chaos and more progress on my borderprinces army.

My first post of 2018 will be about my chaos army.

Ogres!
I completed two units of ogres, a big one of 10 and a smaller one of 6.

This unit consist mostly of the mercenaries ogres from the red period. There are 5 of them. Two of them are Fenryll ogres, they're in resin and very light. Two are Bob Olleys sculpt, really lovely sculpts. And the final one, the champion is a two headed troll from reaper.
I bought it 15 years ago in the USA. It took me so many years to have him painted. That s an awesome sculpt.

The champion and the banner. They know how to spell Khorne and write it on their flag. I painted a chaos star on the shoulderpad of the third guy.

These four guys look tough. The third guy from the left, i got it for several years too. This unit allowed me to complete models who last too much time in the painting queue.

Here are the two Fenryll miniatures. The left one is the city ogre and the other is the field ogre. They fit really well with the others, i really like the final look of this unit.

Then comes the other unit, the smaller one.

Five of them are Jess Godwin ogres the final one is an other Bob Olleys sculpt. They all look kinda like gladiators or savage ogres.

The Bob's one is one of my favorite. I tried to make the Strattos god of war's tatoos. It's something i like to paint on my miniatures. The middle one is the ogre from the warhammer roleplay book, it s a cult miniature. The left one must be touched by chaos, he got a horn one the middle of his head.

These guys are cool too. The shaman was already shown in my previous posts but anyway. I painted a tatoo on the back of the middle one but i forgot to take it in photo. The right one was the last ogre i painted. Such a nostalgy... My last ogre.

Then i took care of my last 4 trolls. One of them is the King of Troll!

King ot trolls coming through!!!

Two of the trolls are from the old citadel line, Grog stuntycruncher and Skutllescree Soresmeer. They re classic miniatures. The big one is a Bob Olley's sculpt, he s kinda huge. I bought it to the guy who has the mould. Finally the last one is a swamp troll by reaper miniature. He s also a Bob sculpt.

Here they are all together in a flashy crappy picture. It s a big unit of 20 trolls. Héhé, so silly ...

After that, when i getting bored of painting big units, i m going back to paint some heroes.

This little cabal of warlocks consists of the warhammer quest chaos sorcerer, a chaos magister, some iron face mask mage (i already showed it i think), a purple sorcerer and nurgle magus.
They 're all really cool sculpts. I still have three to paint.

This guy is a chaos spawn from Knightmare miniatures by Dieggo Serrate. Its coming right from the book Realm of chaos. When i saw it, I instantanetly recognize it and i said to myself "must get it"
Well at least, it didn't last long on the painting queue.

Then i took care of a chaos lord centaur. This guy is from the marauder line if i remember correctly. I had to use greenstuff to link the horse body to the man body. But in the end, it looks pretty good. He s far bigger than the citadel centaurs i have but he s a lord so i m cool with it.

Here we can see his left side and his shield. It s an old marauder beastman shield. It completes well the miniature and adds to him a little greek side.
After that, i needed to advance the other units and i jumped on my dogs which were easy and quick to paint.
Woua woua!!!

I tried to give them more or less natural skin tones. This miniatures are really cool but i m not really passionate by dogs or horses.

So when i have to paint some of them, i m not wasting to much time and try to speed them in order to go with miniatures more interesting.

Finally to finish my first post of 2018, here is my Nurgle warriors unit. I already showed them on Facebook but not individually so here they are:

Have at THEE!!!

This unit of 20 guys was the fruit of miniatures gathering which last several years.

Here is the command group. The champion is a heartbreaker miniature, the spear snapped when i got him and so i replaced it with a bestigor axe. The banner got his polearm removed and i put a plaguebearer banner. The one on the left is so cool. In the unit I got 8 of the 11 Jess Godwin's Nurgle Champions.
On the left is a big favorite of all oldhammer fans. The champion with the Jezzail! Surprisingly he s not officially associated with Nurgle. The one of the right is also a heartbreaker warrior, I like his pose.

Here are two more classic champions. The guy with the flail is more associated with Slaanesh (boob ..) but i painted him as a Nurgle one. Finally, the beastman skeleton looks good amongst his nurgle brethrens.
The last members of the unit look good too. This unit really helped me to practice my colours, the green of the rusty effects were something new to me. The middle one is really fun with his troll like face and the flyhead guy must be in every Nurgle's army.

To battle!!! Nurgleth acso daak!

It would be cool to get the last three champions from Jess. But unfortunatly, even if the two guys with tech weapons can be found pretty easily, the one named "axe " is practicly impossible to find. I saw him getting sold for 100 € or something ... Well, all men can dream.
Here he is. The champion impossibreu to find.

Ok guys, it s all my first post of the year. I hope you found it interesting and appreciated my paintings. For my next post, i will show more from my borderprinces army which received more reinforcements!
Thanks for reading and until next time!
